The ability to ‘live off the land,’ becoming less dependent on resupply from earth, is critical to establishing a permanent lunar settlement. Redivivus is currently developing an e-waste recycling device that can easily be repurposed for processing lunar ore allowing astronauts to convert it into metals and water. The device works like the Star Trek replicator in reverse, taking an object and ‘dematerializing’ it into constituent atoms. Since the process requires vacuum the launch mass of this device can be minimized. The launch volume can also be minimized by planned assembly on the lunar surface. Due to the lack of dangerous chemicals or nuclear material there is no impact on launch safety. The goal of this proposal is to establish minimum viable scalable architecture for continuous lunar operation.
